Successful Conduct of Election of Administrative Boards of Provincial Councils across the Country

Kabul, Afghanistan, November 15, 2015 - Based on the decision of the IEC, the election process of Administrative Boards of provincial councils began on Sunday November 15, 2015 in all 34 provinces of the country in the presence of civil society organizations, media and observer organizations, representatives of Independent Human Rights Commission and United Nations and successfully ended in 26 provinces.


Election of Provincial Councils Administrative member

Kabul, Afghanistan, November 15, 2015 - Based on the decision of Independent Election Commission of today Sunday, November 15, 2015, Election of Provincial Council Administrative member for 34 provinces.

Based on the article 71 and 72 of Election law, the Independent Election Commission has the responsibilities for the conducting of provincial councils internal Election. In this election the head, deputy and secretary of Provincial Councils elects for one year.


President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with IEC leadership

Kabul, Afghanistan, June 20, 2015 - H.E Mohammad Ashraf Ghani the president of Afghanistan met with the leadership of the Independent Election and Electoral Complaints Commissions.

In the meeting that took place in ARG, the leadership of the commissions presented their ideas and proposals on conducting elections for the Lower House of the National Assembly and the District Councils. Their proposals included reevaluating polling centers, verification of voter's ID cards, recruiting permanent staff for the commissions and preparing lists of voters.


Workshop on Institutionalizing Gender Equity in IEC

Kabul, Afghanistan, March 04, 2015 - A workshop on ‘Institutionalizing Gender Equity in IEC’ was held on 1 March 2015 in IEC jointly organized by the Department of the Capacity Building and Training, and the Gender Unit. The workshop was targeted for the heads of the departments and key personnel in the department. The objectives of the workshop was to share on the progresses, gaps and challenges relating to IEC’s gender efforts, and to share key elements for the gender strategy and invite inputs from the head of the departments.
