IEC Afghanistan is hosting the 8th Meeting of the “FEMBoSA”

Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan is hosting the 8th Meeting of “Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia” (FEMBoSA) in Afghanistan. The seventh FEMBoSA was chaired by Election Commission Maldives chairman HE. Mr. Amjad Musthafa for a year. It is scheduled that the chairmanship of FEMBoSA will be handed over to the IEC Afghanistan on 24th Sep 17 through formal function. HE. Mr. Najeebullah Ahmadzai is going to chair FEMBoSA for one-year tenure (2017 – 2018).


IEC Chairman Participation in the Association of World Election Bodies (AWEB) in Romania

Mr. Najibullah Ahmadzai the Chairman of IEC participated in the Association of World Election bodies (AWEB) in Romania Bucharest which was on 31st of August 2017 and there were more than 50 different countries Chairman participated in this important meeting and they exchanged their update information about the election process in their countries.


IEC Chairman Meets Andrew Wilder U.S Institute of Peace Vice President for Asia Programs

In this meeting that took place in his office, IEC chairman Mr. Najibullah Ahmadzai spoke about the recent progress made about the PC assessment process. He added that 93 - 95% of the job is accomplished and in the next two weeks, it will be completed and finalized. In addition, Mr. Ahmadzai confirmed that IEC will use biometric technology for upcoming voter registration phase across the country and the procurement of the technology is in progress.


Political Deputy of UNAMA expressed satisfaction on IEC, PC assessment progress in Afghanistan

Pernille Dahler Cardel met his Excellency Najeebullah Ahmahzai, IEC Chairman in his office today. Mr. Ahmadzai spoke about progresses made in the PC assessment process. He added that around 90% of the process was successful and efforts are in progress to cover the districts with high security threats. Mr. Ahmadzai said that procuring technology for BVR is in progress and qualified companies are identified. As soon as the technology is procured, the BVR will start with modernized system.
