On 11 March 2019, IEC held a coordination meeting with IEC CEO, Deputies CEO and IEC Heads of directorates. The meeting was the occasion for IEC secretariat to brief newly appointed IEC Commissioners on their activities and plans for the upcoming elections, as well as to share their suggestions with IEC leadership. The latter reiterates its commitment to address shortcomings faced during last WJ elections.
Today IEC Info & Public Outreach team participated in a social media workshop organized to strengthen IEC communication in view of upcoming elections.
IEC checked out and verified the documents of all potential presidential candidates of 2019 Presidential Election and announces that eighteen presidential candidates have found way to the preliminary list. In accordance with the Constitution and Article 38 of the Electoral Law, the potential candidate completed the imposed conditions and requirements and there was no problem in their documents.
Candidate nomination process for 2019 Presidential Election has been successfully completed on the 20 January 2019. Based on IEC records, 70 potential candidates have received the registration kit at the candidate nomination center, set at IEC HQ office. Among them, 20 citizens applied to run as presidential candidate in 2019 elections.
