The Independent Election Commission has been established as an independent and impartial organization under article 156 of the Afghan Constitution in order to administer and supervise every kind of elections. The Commission, based on provisions of the laws, is obliged to provide facilities for participation of all eligible voters in elections in the country.
The IEC decides to revise its operational planning for the voter registration to start on 26 May, 2013 rather than 21 April, 2013 to enable enhanced security features for a newly designed voter registration card

Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan is hosting the 8th Meeting of “Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia” (FEMBoSA) in Afghanistan. The chairman of the FEMBoSA is going to hand over the chairmanship of the forum to IEC Afghanistan for one year. Therefore, we are kindly requesting the media to cover the opening ceremony of the forum.
Mr. Najibullah Ahmadzai the Chairman of IEC participated in the Association of World Election bodies (AWEB) in Romania Bucharest which was on 31st of August 2017 and there were more than 50 different countries Chairman participated in this important meeting and they exchanged their update information about the election process in their countries.
